If you’re having trouble dropping those last few annoying pounds, you may want to pay closer attention to your diet. Sugar is usually the root of most weight-loss issues. You don’t have to eliminate it from your diet completely, but you may want to limit the amount of sugar your consuming when trying to shed those last few lbs. Where are hidden sugars commonly found?
1. Condiments: Ketchup, tartar sauce, steak sauce, barbecue sauce and jams/jellies are actually full of sugar. Replace these with either low-sugar or sugar-free versions such as mustard, soy sauce (opt for low sodium), salsa, and most hot sauces.
2. Juices: Soda isn’t the only soft drink packed with sugar; certain fruit juices are loaded with sugar. Water it down by adding seltzer to half your glass.
3. Sangria and Margaritas: Drinks like sangria and margaritas will lead to a sugar high and sugar crash as well. Stick to wine and cut up some fresh fruit as a garnish if you’re really craving something sweeter.
4. Yogurt: We’ve all seen the ads of low-calorie yogurt, leading to weight loss. Be wary of these claims; many yogurts that only have around 80-100 calories also have around 10-16 grams of sugar. Stick with Greek yogurt to cut this down to about 7 grams of sugar.
